From Belize City to San Pedro and Caye Caulker
The journey from Belize City to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye is an island water taxi connection. Caye Caulker is another destination on this route network, and both belong in the same travel plan when comparing terminals, luggage rules and onward timing. Choose the operator before arranging the road journey to the pier, so the driver has the correct destination.
An arrival at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport, BZE, starts in Ladyville. From there, a road transfer brings you to a water taxi terminal in Belize City, followed by the separately ticketed boat journey. The airport arrival guide covers the road stage. Cruise passengers instead begin with their ship’s tender arrangements at the cruise arrival area; an island ferry is a different service from that ship-to-shore boat.

San Pedro Belize Express: terminal and journey times
San Pedro Belize Express, abbreviated here as SPBE, names Belize Marine Terminal at 111 North Front Street as its Belize City departure point. Its published approximate journey times are 45 minutes to Caye Caulker and 1 hour 30 minutes to San Pedro. Between Caye Caulker and San Pedro, it gives approximately 30 minutes. Use these as operator journey estimates when choosing the island leg of your travel day.
SPBE’s luggage information allows one checked bag up to 23 kg, plus a small carry-on fitting under the seat. Checked luggage should be handed over at least 15 minutes before departure. Oversized or overweight items use cargo rates. Keep valuables with you and retain the baggage tag for collection. This is SPBE’s luggage arrangement, so a different operator’s ticket needs its own conditions.
Airport connection
This airport transfer connects with the water taxi terminal; the ferry ticket is extra.

Private airport drop-off at a water taxi terminal
A BZE road transfer with a driver, air-conditioned vehicle and luggage assistance gets you to the terminal. Ferry tickets are extra; this is the airport connection rather than an island excursion.
Caribbean Sprinter: schedule and boarding
Caribbean Sprinter publishes Belize City departures at 08:00, 10:30, 13:30, 15:00, 16:30 and 17:40. Its undated sailing page gives approximately 45 minutes to Caye Caulker and 75 minutes to San Pedro, with travel time affected by sea, wind and weather. Consult the operator’s current sailing information for your date when building a connection, especially if you arrive by air.
Under Sprinter’s conditions effective 1 January 2026, normal travel luggage is free when one person can carry or pull it in a single trip. Large backpacks are checked; carry-on items stay within your seating area. Check-in opens 24 hours before travel, and you should be ready at least 10 minutes before departure. A boarding pass is required, with seats subject to availability. Use the departure location in your own booking for the road drop-off, rather than substituting SPBE’s terminal address.
Airport transfer and ferry booking
The private airport-to-terminal transfer featured here lasts 30 minutes. It starts at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport and includes an air-conditioned vehicle, professional driver, luggage assistance, a welcome drink and a short city introduction. Flight tracking allows pickup timing to adjust to early or delayed arrivals. A return transfer is available with the corresponding booking. Ferry tickets, personal expenses and gratuities are extra.
Keep the transfer and ferry records together, but budget and schedule them as separate stages. A driver’s airport pickup does not reserve a boat seat. For a stay in the city before your onward sailing, choose your accommodation location around the departure you intend to use. For a mainland excursion instead, the tour guide covers outings with a different route from the island services.
Children, fares and weather
For SPBE domestic travel, its published FAQ names a child category for ages 4 to 10, the regular tariff for children over 10, and free lap-child travel below age 1. Enter the actual age of each traveller when obtaining a fare, especially for children between those published categories. Use the fare offered for your date and party, including the luggage you plan to take, instead of transferring a child rule from another operator.
For weather planning, use the National Meteorological Service of Belize’s Marine Forecast and General Weather Forecast. Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, and storms can occur outside it. Under Sprinter’s contract effective 1 January 2026, the captain decides weather-related operation. Leave room for changes between the island crossing and any onward flight. Historical climate patterns on the weather page provide context, while the forecasts concern the travel day.
